The Parish Council represent the interests of the community. The Chairman, councillors and clerk are individual members of the council ‘team’ working together and responding to the needs and views of the community.

The council accounts are audited annually, with the audit for the preceding year normally being held in the summer.
The Parish Council meets in the village hall at 7.00 pm. The dates are: 6th November 2024; 5th March 2025; 7th May 2025; 2nd July 2025; 5th November 2025. Brief reports appear regularly in Village Voice, the magazine serving the Hoxne, Wingfield, Denham and Syleham parishes.
The Parish Council must publish draft minutes of meetings within one month of the meeting. These draft minutes can be found on this page. However, the minutes are only a draft document and do not become an official record of the Parish Council Meeting until they are approved at the next Parish Council Meeting.

Mid Suffolk District Council’s core strategy for local development has now been confirmed. Syleham is designated ‘Countryside’, meaning that housing development would be permitted only in strictly limited categories.
The Parish Council takes a strong interest in elderly and vulnerable residents and has an active link with Age Concern in Mrs Elsden.
